The holiday season is here, and I had quite a few presents to wrap today. When I looked at all the pretty gift wrappers highlighted at the store this time of year, I was so drawn towards the brown paper – it just screamed natural, eco-friendly and organic.
There’s just something about it’s “realness” in the midst of a very commercialized holiday! It also feels like a throwback to a simpler time – when I diligently wrapped each of my text books in this same paper year after every school year.
The ways to pretty up this minimalist brown package are endless – it’s a nice neutral tone to highlight any gift topper.
I used Burlap, lace, satin ribbons, wood initials, mini wooden pegs, ferns, jute twine, baker’s twine, pine cones, paper doilies, handmade gingerbread man and xmas tree gift toppers, pompoms, glitter snowflakes, xmas ornaments and white markers… all these items are readily available at any craft store…only your creativity sets the limit. I think the gifts I wrapped today go way beyond ‘topped with a bow’.
Go ahead, have a look and tell me which of the ideas you’re most likely to try yourself!
