I wonnnnnnn! The Best Arts & Theatre Blog 2017 at The Indian Blogger awards 2017 #IBA2017

To say this week has been a good week or this year has been a good year would be a massive understatement: I have won the Best Arts & Theatre Blog Award 2017 – and it’s all thanks to you.

This morning at 11 a.m I won the Indiblogger award for Best Arts & Theatre Blog at their awards party… HOW excited and pleased am I?!! It was a lovely surprise and I couldn’t have been happier to have won something that means I can call myself an “award winning” blogger so early on in my blogging journey. Before I tell you more, I would like to thank you all.

Thank you for every single read, like, comment, share and email. I started this art blog in July 2016 to share the realities of being an artist, to help other artists feel less alone and more informed. To help empower artists and to talk openly about everything from marketing one’s art to how to approach a gallery and finding daily inspiration. And wow have I enjoyed it, with my readers growing more every single day I am loving how many of you beautiful people are coming over for advice on the best and worst sketchbooks to use and to view a virtual showcase of some of the best new art galleries around.

It’s been a great 1.5 year journey and in the coming months and years, I’m going to dedicate even more time to my blog. I’m hoping to write at least 7 times a month like I have so far so you all know what I’m up to! It might not always be right away, but I will try to write about all the places I go to, people I meet and the important things I learn. I think it’s important to constantly better yourself and learn about the world around you. There’s no shame in saying you didn’t know about a certain aspect about a certain subject, but I do think you’re always a better person if you seek out new information and then try to do what’s in your power to share that information with the world. You may not always succeed, but at least you can say you tried!

There are so many bloggers out there that it sometimes feels overwhelming. I sometimes think that my blog isn’t good enough because I don’t focus on things that others in the arts usually write about. My blog focuses more on “the developing artist”. However, I feel that the art world can be quite intimidating and there’s not much information easily available on how to approach the gatekeepers of the art world. There are so many ideas, places and art topics that deserve to be written about, and I’m going to keep doing just that! I encourage you, if you ever get the chance, go walk off the beaten path and visit a museum, art gallery, watch a play or performance – I’m willing to bet that it’s extremely enriching, and that you’ll learn a thing or two about yourself in the process!

I read every single email, comment and appreciate every single one. However in such an amazing category I did not expect to win the best Arts & Theatre blog of the year! So thank you all for the encouragement, it really means a lot from this Bangalore born and bred girl who likes filter coffee and eats far too many idlis at one go!

Big big thank you to the jury – you inspire me! Click here to see the who’s who on this panel including Gul Panag, Rajiv Makhni and more.

If you are looking for new blogs to read, I highly recommend checking out all of the other nominees or at least the winners for some great choices in tech, science, business, art, food, travel, fashion, and so much more.

I am still so overwhelmed and absolutely ecstatic about winning, I am not going to play it cool. I am, in true Bangalore style, buzzin!

Here’s to all of you, you’ve made my blogging year!
