The Art Of Gardening : Easy DIY Succulent Centrepiece

Art and gardening are two of my favorite things…add in photography, and I have the perfect day!
I love my house plants but I’ve had terrible luck with cacti and succulents because I can’t stop myself from showering love(water).
In the past few weeks, I’ve been researching a lot on how not to overwater and avoid killing succulents. Part of the reason for my enthusiasm? I saw these beautiful succulent centrepieces at a restaurant called Forage and have been dreaming about making a succulent arrangement of my own.
First I went out and got a shallow, Wabi Sabi ceramic container from this nice little place called Green Carpet – The Garden Center. Then I surfed and saved all the amazing photos of succulent planters made by other people and then made a trip to the local nursery MM Floritech to create my own. And I have to say putting together my own succulent container garden was super easy and immensely satisfying. I would have loved to keep this one indoors but succulents thrive in the sun so I’ve put this one out on our deck.

Succulent Planter

This planter is so perfect for the kind of gardener I am because I don’t have a lot of time to spend on tending plants. Interesting trivia : I learned that all cacti are succulents but not all succulents are cacti.
They come in an amazing array of colors and leaf textures, and combining them in interesting ways is a large part of the fun. Colors and textures that you wouldn’t think would go together can make beautiful arrangements. The plants you choose and how you arrange them is a personal choice. I can’t wait to make my second one.
